"Coleman is a total ladies' man," the Modern Family star tells PEOPLE. "He's a ladies' man in that he doesn't pursue. He just sits and waits for them to come to him."
That puts the Jack Russell Terrier/beagle mix, whom Stonestreet rescued in 2000, in the same category as bachelors like George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio.
"He's like a Hollywood actor. He's aloof and dangerous and mysterious – you never really know what's going on with him," Stonestreet adds. "That's how he lures the ladies in, and they're like, 'Coleman, we just want to know you. We just want to understand you.'"
The actor says his furry wingman learned his moves from – who else? – Stonestreet himself. As a "confident small dog owner," the single star says they make a solid team.
Another thing Coleman inherited from Dad? His (assumed) devotion to the Kansas State Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs. Stonestreet, a dedicated football fan and spokesperson for AT&T’s #BeTheFan campaign, says his pooch doesn't really understand the game, although he's happy to pass around the pigskin.
"He celebrates game day pretty much the same way he celebrates every other day," Stonestreet says. "He's a homebody."
