There was much to love about 2012's The Hunger Games, from Jennifer Lawrence's badass portrayal of heroine Katniss Everdeen to Elizabeth Banks's over-the-top ensembles as Effie Trinket. But for a certain group of fans, the book's big-screen adaptation got one very important aspect of the story wrong: Prim's cat.

The beloved feline of Katniss's younger sister is described as having a yellow coat, an aspect that inspires Prim to name him Buttercup. In last year's blockbuster, however, Buttercup was portrayed by a black-and-white cat – until author Suzanne Collins had a word with Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence.

"That was a request from Nina [Jacobson] the producer and Suzanne the author," he told io9.com of the change. "They thought the cat from the first movie was not the way he was described in the book. And that had annoyed a bunch of fans, and things like that."

While Francis himself was happy to recast for a cat "that felt like the Buttercup of the book," he admitted the switch hasn't pleased everyone.

"It's funny because now people are split. Some people think we should have continued on with what happened in the first movie," he said, "and some people are really happy. You never win."

What do you think the Hunger Games crew should've done about the cat situation?
