Adopt Me! Get Ready to Fall in Love with Fraggle's Quirks

This 8-year-old pooch was found wandering the streets of the Bronx nearly a year ago. According to Dr. Julie Horton, medical director at the ASPCA Adoption Center in Manhattan, Fraggle was a "medical mess" upon his arrival. He suffered from chronic ear infections that had been unattended for so long they were no longer treatable. As a result, Fraggle have to have both ear canals removed to relieve his pain, leaving him almost completely deaf. An eye condition also prevents him from producing enough tears, so he requires regular medication.
"Fraggle needs someone who is dedicated to maintaining his health," says Horton, "but luckily many of his conditions have significantly improved since he's been with us." That includes a skin condition which completely cleared up thanks to treatment.
But beyond his ailments, Fraggle has a reputation for being a little set in his ways, which has lovingly earned him the nickname "grandpa dog" at the shelter. "He needs a family who can love him for the dog that he is – stubborn but at the same time a great walking and relaxing companion," says Arthur Hazlewood, senior director of the adoption center.
Hazlewood believes Fraggle – who is more of a couch potato than a snuggler – would do best in a home without other canines. The shelter would also prefer that the person who adopts him have plenty of experience owning dogs.
"Everyone at the ASPCA hopes that this distinguished little guy finds the special home he deserves," adds Horton.
