Baby, it's cold outside – but not with Baby by your side. This adorable senior pooch was taken in by New York City's ASPCA after a good Samaritan found her tied to a tree. They cleaned her up, nursed her wounds and now the super-friendly canine is ready for her forever home – which everyone is hoping will arrive in time for the holidays.
"For Baby, a stranger is just a best friend she hasn't met yet," says Arthur Hazlewood, senior director of the ASPCA Adoption Center in Manhattan. "She always seems to have a smile on her face."
Described by communications manager Mallory Kerley as a "cuddly marshmallow" and a "good sport for letting us squeeze her into [a Christmas] sweater," Baby is smart and eager to add to her roster of commands, which include "sit."
"The saying 'you can't teach and old dog new tricks' definitely doesn't apply to her," says Hazlewood. "She is very motivated by some tasty treats and could learn some fun new tricks with someone who is willing to work with her."
The amiable dog loves people – including model Irina Shayk, who paid her a visit at the shelter this month – but she's not the biggest fan of other dogs, so the dog park isn't the place for her. She's a pup who feels most secure whens she's around other people, so an owner who can shower her with attention is key.
"Her new family should also spend time teaching Baby that the world isn't such a scary place, and it's okay to be alone for some 'me time' every now and then," Hazlewood says. "If you're looking for lots of pitty kisses and snuggles, Baby is your girl!"
