A dog helped make a terminally ill teen's biggest wish come true.
Caleb Acosta is a 15-year-old teen from Apopka, Fla., who has stage four brain cancer that has spread to his spine. He really wanted to hang ten with surf dog Ricochet, the world's most famous surfing golden retriever.
Earlier this month, the wheelchair-bound teenager's hope was granted when the Make-A-Wish Foundation flew him from his Florida home to surf in California.
Catching waves with a canine was even better than Acosta expected, he told a San Diego TV station.
"I started riding the wave and all of the pain [in my spine] left, and it was so fun," he said.
The experience has stayed with him, his mother, Cathy, wrote on his Facebook page.
"It was an amazing sight, an amazing experience," she wrote. "Caleb said it was the ride of his life."
Though Acosta's health has deteriorated over the past year, he has not lost faith that he will recover.
"Despite his diagnosis and what that means scientifically," his mom wrote, "despite his pain, despite treatments that do not seem to have worked, he trusts and believes. God has a plan for him."
