The Daily Treat: Watch Iraq Veteran's Heartwarming Reunion with Military Dog

U.S. Army Sgt. Jason Bos and his former partner, Cila, will always have a bond.

And never was it more visible than when the pair reunited at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport last month, two years after the Iraq veteran left his army post due to a back injury and was forced to say goodbye to the pooch, a bomb-sniffing chocolate Lab whom he had worked with for nearly five years.

According to The Chicago Tribune, Bos, 33, was over the moon when he learned via Facebook that Cila (a.k.a. Cici) was retiring and available for adoption. But paperwork and monetary help from the American Humane Association and Mission K9 Rescue would follow before the dog – who served multiple overseas deployments with Bos – could board the nine-hour flight to be with him, fur-ever.

There were plenty of tail wags and tears when the pair reunited at the airport, which was captured in the video above.

"She looked at me, she started smelling me – she knew me," he said.

Bos, who rode off into the sunset with Cila in his SUV, has promised that the dog's retirement at his home near Grand Rapids, Michigan, will be worry-free – well, almost.

"Her whole life has been about working," he said. "Now it's time for her to worry about just relaxing."
