Adopt Me! Stewy the Cat Wants to Be King of His Own Castle
05/09/2014 AT 12:00 PM EDT
The phrase "no pets allowed" has hit Stewy especially hard. The cat lived in a comfortable home for nine years, but when his family moved to an apartment where cats weren't permitted, he found himself at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York, looking for a new place to call home.
The black-and-white cat, who isn't fond of other cats or children, has a lot to offer the right owner. He's friendly, affectionate and there's a whole lot of him to love – if you're looking for a lap cat, Stewy is your guy. Though he "could probably stand to lose a few pounds," according to his Petfinder.com bio, some interaction and a few fun toys would likely help Stewy shed some of his extra weight.
Plus, "Stewy has one of those faces that you can't help but fall in love with," says Lisa Bonanno-Spence, development manager for the SPCA of Westchester. "Although he can be independent at times, he really has a heart of gold and is happiest when he is curled up on your lap being pet and brushed. He'd love a quiet home where he can be the king of the castle!"
If you're interested in Stewy, contact the SPCA of Westchester at 914-941-2896. Last month, the shelter's Humane Law Enforcement Unit was contacted by the nearby Yonkers Police Department regarding the grizzly discovery of the remains of 25 cats who were brutalized and left in plastic bags tied to a tree. A significant sum of money has been offered as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible; anyone with such information can call the SPCA's confidential hotline at 914-941-7797.
