Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We'd like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Juliette, a 3-year-old calico who is an office cat at the Upper Valley Humane Society in Enfield, New Hampshire.

Looking for those missing paperclips or rubber bands? Ask Juliette. It's highly likely that she's batted them under a desk somewhere. The cat has been at the shelter for nearly two years, and in that time she's explored every nook and cranny of the office she shares with office manager Michelle Laramie. Besides being a pro at swiping office supplies, Juliette loves to be involved in whatever tasks are at hand.

"She's usually sitting on whatever Michelle is working on, the payroll that she's trying to work on," says executive director Deborah Turcott. "She's quite adventurous. We had to put a screen up to keep her from escaping the room."

While the indoor cat likes being around people, she's not necessarily looking to spoon with them. "She wants one human she can keep all to herself," Turcott says. "But she's never going to be the snuggling in your lap kind of cat. She doesn't need your constant affection."

She does however need a home that's free of other animals because she's not especially fond of them. She'd love a perch – just like the one she has at the office – where she can observe birds all day. "She's got a personality that exceeds her body size," Turcott adds. "She's quite smart."

If you think Juliette is the companion for you, contact the shelter at 603-448-6888. For Adopt-a-Shelter Cat month in June, her adoption fee will be waived with a small donation. Contact the shelter to learn more.

Adopting a pet is an amazing experience – and a big decision! Before bringing a pet into your home, it's important to consider your family circumstances and do your research.
