Rosie the dog is "a handful," according to her owner
You think your pet drives you up the wall?
Well, this one drove her owner's car into a pond when she apparently fell onto the gas pedal.
According to CNN
, a Massachusetts man told police that his German shepherd puppy, Rosie, got her leash entangled in the gear shift of his Dodge Neon on Sunday, setting off an amazing chain of events.
"While [the dog was] trying to break free [the owner] stated the puppy fell onto the driver's side floor and hit the accelerator sending the vehicle into the pond," said Rob Quirk of the Canton Police Department.
The man, identified as John Costello by a Boston FOX affiliate
, and the pup were in the car as it floated about 30 feet into Bolivar Pond. It eventually sank – but not before the owner freed himself and witnesses helped rescue the dog, who was scared and ran into the back seat.
"The car went for a swim. We all did," Costello said, describing his puppy as "a handful."
While everyone escaped injury, it's lights out for the Dodge Neon.
"Owner and puppy are both ok," Quirk Tweeted on Sunday with a photo
of the vehicle submerged in water. "The car … not so much."
