Like a lot of grooms on their wedding day, Jackson Galaxy
had some pre-nuptial jitters in the moments preceding his June 29th ceremony, held in a secluded canyon in Utah.
Only for Galaxy, host of the Animal Planet show My Cat From Hell
, it was on account of raccoons.
"Our dog Mooshka was the ring bearer," he told PEOPLE, shortly before leaving on his honeymoon in the South Seas. "She was so excited by what was going on that she couldn't sit still. But what really worried me was what might happen if a raccoon came by. We were lucky we got through the ceremony without her going rogue."
It's only fitting that the cat behaviorist, who travels the nation working with maladjusted cats, would tie the knot at the Best Friends Animal Society’s
no-kill pet sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, in an "intimate" ceremony, surrounded by a handful of family and friends.
Not surprisingly, his bride – Minoo Rahbar – is an animal rescuer, who first met Galaxy while trying to raise funds for a kitten rescue she'd started. "We met for coffee for 15 minutes," says Galaxy. "And the rest, as they say, is history." The couple live in Los Angeles with their dog (a rescue, of course) and six cats.
Galaxy was coy on the subject of whether the pitter-patter of little feet (not paws) will soon be heard in the couple's home. "The future never knows," he laughs. "But I can tell you we both have an incredible affinity for donkeys."
