When Kate Cheng and Patty Chan met in a metal class at San Francisco's Academy of Art, Chan already had her sites set on collaring the dog-collar market. Her family owned fashion jewelry warehouses in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and she wondered: Why couldn't someone design upscale accouterments for pups with the same gemstones – turquoise, tiger's eye and red jasper, among others – featured on human flair?

Etsy Fave! Festive Collars To Trick – Or Treat – Your Pup

Halloween is right around the corner, which means there is no better time to give your dog a festive new look. This year, you have no shortage of stylish – and spooky – options. From collars that feature colorful studs, rugged spikes and even embroidered embellishments to accessories sporting pumpkins or ghosts, there are plenty of ways to show some holiday spirit.

Is your dog bad to the bone? Then outfit him in a collar adorned with a skull-and-crossbones design. Or perhaps your pup is eyeballing one of these decorated with colorful and creepy eyes.

Looking for something less scary? Plenty of leashes and collars feature friendly-looking pumpkins – and some even come embellished with a bow for a feminine touch.

If you are looking for something a little more traditional, a collar that says simply "Trick or treat" might just do the trick. Or perhaps your pooch will look sweet in one bearing candy corn. Either way, you and your pet will fit in perfectly at the
neighborhood parade.

The collars, which each cost under $20, offer an affordable way to get into the holiday spirit. All are adjustable and washable, and come in sizes from sizes S-XL.

Our resident Maltipoo has slept on everything from a bespoke men's dress shirt to a teetering stack of ornamental pillows. He does not discriminate when it comes to sleeping accommodations as long as there is a reasonably soft place for him to rest his pampered paws. So when we brought him a Microdry Memory Foam Pet Mat – made of an impossibly soft fabric – we thought we had found a Maltipoo mecca.
