Photographer Julian Wolkenstein styled and photographed horses with luscious locks for no particular reason – just “to make you smile,” he told the U.K.’s Daily Mail. And good thing he did: We wouldn’t have wanted to miss seeing the Bettie Page of the pony world!
“The horse absolutely adored having been groomed and being played with,” says Wolkenstein of this photo shoot. And it was lucky for Misty that she liked it: Styling took five hours. “One of the things we learned from the test shoot is that a horse’s head is incredibly big and you just need buckets and buckets of hair extensions, double or triple what you think.”
Hey, horse–Bo Derek wants her hair back! Wolkenstein cast this beauty in his series of photographs because it already had experience being in front of a TV crew. How do horse models differ from supermodels like Gisele Bundchen or Heidi Klum? They don’t like the lights and flashes!
Wolkenstein isn’t alone in his fondness for thoroughbred fashion. The owners of Willy the horse of Winsen Aller, Germany, created this curly mane. The benefit to having a stylish horse like this one? You can share curling irons!
