“He has this amazing intuition of knowing how people feel,” Portman has said of her Yorkshire terrier, who showered her with kisses at the airport in 2010.
Portman had a big year in 2011, and so did her pooch, who had to get used to the idea of two new boys in the house – choreographer and dancer Benjamin Millepied, whom Portman wed Aug. 4, 2012, and their son, Aleph.

Before his locks got a little shaggier, Whiz looked tiny enough to blow away from the New York City sidewalk.
Portman named her pooch after “whizbang,” but here he seems to be living up to a different homonym. He’s also gifted at making Portman laugh, as seen here and in this episode of Between Two Ferns.
“I love dogs,” Portman told Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph in 2007. “They’re better than people.” That was the year Whiz’s predecessor, Portman’s previous “mutt,” died.
Portman kept her shades on during a bright day, while Whiz knows never to stare directly into the sun.
Whiz looks ready to see what Mom has in the bag. “Is it something for me?”
