The zoo invited the cast to visit and received a genuinely interested response from the actors. During their VIP tour of the grounds, Gosling and Wood got to meet many animals, including elephant Schottzie.
Moe, the two-toed sloth, craned his neck to get a better look (wouldn’t you?).
The stars “wanted to learn more about each animal they met,” says Tiffany Barnes, a zoo spokesperson. Gosling even chatted with this porcupine, Caroline, and her keeper.
Wood even got to help train a turaco, a bird native to Africa, during the visit.
“With each new encounter, they were enthusiastic and eager to hear all about the daily schedule, care background and endangered status of the animal,” Barnes tells PEOPLEPets.com.
Gosling got to pet an okapi, which is native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The okapi has stripes that are reminiscent of the zebra.
Gosling had a getting-to-know-you moment with the okapi, with a deep staring session.
Wood got down to the level of big cat Joseph.
This lucky African penguin named Charlie got to do a little show for Gosling.
Nikki the Indian rhino was even luckier than Charlie – she got a handful of food from the handsome star!
