The First Dog celebrates the end of another year at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., and it’s been a good ride

The humidity may have gotten to his tail, but Bo was still happy to be out in the warm weather. He walked onto the South Lawn on Aug. 2, 2010, to see off President Obama before a trip.
The President’s Active Lifestyle Award achievers may have been in a receiving room at the White House, but the main attraction on Nov. 29, 2010? Without a doubt, Bo.

Is Bo a secret spokesdog for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative? The exuberant Portuguese water dog did a dash across the lawn on April 29, 2010.
For last year’s holiday decorations, Mrs. Obama commissioned a special faux Bo, made of wired, looped strands of pipe cleaner.

After going through a rigorous quarantine program required by Hawaii, Bo joined Malia Obama for his first taste of the islands on Dec. 23, 2010.

Bo joined the First Dad for a boys-only trip to Chicago for the President’s 49th birthday in August.
If nothing else, the First Dog is consummately well-behaved. He joined the President and the First Lady during the official remarks at a Christmas holiday reception on Dec. 15, 2010.
Ruh-roh – somebody’s in trouble! Even nice dogs have to bark sometimes, and all that noise got Bo kicked out of an event on April 20, 2010.
Time to get clean! Bo’s other main man, White House horticulturist Dale Haney, washed off Bo’s paws on Oct. 19, 2010.
As President Obama stepped outside to discuss serious business with State Department official Jack Lew, Bo stayed indoors. Smart move – temperatures in Washington, D.C. were extra-hot last summer!
