REVIEW: Cat Teepee Gives Indoor Kitties a Taste of the Wild Outdoors

REVIEW: Cat Teepee Gives Indoor Kitties a Taste of the Wild Outdoors

Consider it the kitty version of camping out. The Cat Teepee, the newest in the Kittywalk Systems line of outdoor pet enclosures, gives indoor cats the chance to feel the sun on their face and the wind in their fur — without the risk of them escaping the yard.

Made from weather-resistant canvas and covered in sturdy nylon netting, the Teepee stands 6 ft. tall and 4 ft. in diameter. Though my cats were immediately intrigued by the structure — they were inspecting the mesh-covered ground level even before the easy-to-build enclosure was fully constructed — it took a sprinkling of catnip to get them to climb up to the various levels the first time. But once there, they were sprawling on the canvas shelves to snooze. (Figuring out how to get down wasn’t any problem at all.)

Get the Look: Ciara's Plush 'Animals Matter' Pet Bed

What star can leave a pet boutique empty-handed? Not Ciara! The R&B diva was spotted leaving West Hollywood's D.O.G. Pet Boutique last week, her hands full with a plush dog bed and other goodies.

A sales clerk helped the singer pick out a brown Animals Matter Katie Puff Bed (above, $160) for her dogs. Made with a down-like fiberfill, upholstered in chenille and available in various sizes, the pillowy seat was instantly claimed by at least one of her pups. "Tyson is rolling in his new bed in the car:) I took him with me to work today!:)" the star Tweeted on Thursday. And, the new Crystal Bone Croc Collars she scooped up — made with Czech crystals — look like a million bucks, but at $27 each, they don't cost nearly as much!

Each pet tag purchased on IDTag.com — a variety of adorable cat- and dog-appropriate styles retail for $9.99 — has a serial number engraved on the back. Visit the site to create a pet profile containing your address, phone number and other important data about your pet, including a photo. If your furry BFF happens to run away, you can log on to IDTag.com and a lost-pet bulletin with photos and descriptions will be sent to a network of shelters within 50 miles of your pet's last-known location, as well as more than a dozen lost-pet Web sites. REVIEW: Leave the Toys Out! Petprojekt's Witty Line Is Fun to See

As a pet owner, I usually have to scramble when pals come over to my apartment to hide the detritus of my pug -- gnawed-down ends of rawhide bones, fuzzy toys that look like I've been using them as dust mops, food bowls that look resolutely crusty no matter how many times they go through the dishwasher. But with Petprojekt's new line of cute toys and bowls, I don't mind leaving them out.

Bark Off: What's Your Favorite Type of Dog Harness?

She may play tough-talking chief resident Miranda Bailey on Grey's Anatomy, but even Chandra Wilson couldn't keep her 5-lb. dog Monte from destroying all of his doggie harnesses. "He had this really bad habit of chewing all of his little harnesses," she tells PEOPLE Pets. "I was going through harnesses."

Thankfully, the actress came up with a cure for the 2-year-old papillon's urge to chomp. "I've found this one that has this mesh Lycra kind of thing. It fits on him sort of like a little gym suit. And he can't bite that. It's lasted a whole two months now. I think it's going to make it," she says.
