REVIEW: You'll Have to Persuade Your Pooch to Use This Patch of Grass

REVIEW: You'll Have to Persuade Your Pooch to Use This Patch of Grass

I consider the two dogs in my home to be pretty smart but, even they were fooled by the Potty Patch -- eventually.

The Potty Patch, disguised to look like a large patch of grass, is really a bathroom system that allows your dog to relieve him or her self without being taken out for a walk. The function is essentially the same as your everyday puppy pads, but the grass-like surface may look and feel more inviting to your dog. The Potty Patch is also a conversation starter and a lot better looking that drab puppy pads. The "grass" is actually an anti-microbial synthetic material atop two other tiers – a grate and a tray.

Barking Dog Blankets Make a Tropical Fashion Statement

Barking Dog Blankets Make a Tropical Fashion Statement

Ginger Edmunds found inspiration for her line of dog blankets in the most loveable place: her pup! With a desire to help charities — and an eye for style — the Hawaii resident launched her Barking Dog Blankets, designing comfy resting places for pets in a variety of colors and patterns.

Though multi-purpose, the blankets are meant to cover carseats, keeping them clean from sand and dander throughout your travels. A sewn-in pocket covers the headrest, letting the rest of the material drape over the seat — and under the dog! The blankets are double-sided, 100 percent cotton and cotton blend and trimmed with an adorable signature bone print.

Natura Pet Bed Is a Cozy Creature Comfort

Natura Pet Bed Is a Cozy Creature Comfort

It's big, and it's fuzzy! Natura's Natural Pet Bed — a new addition from the human-focused sleep line — is a jumbo-sized cushion that sends dogs straight to dreamland, thanks to its combination of support and softness. A granulated latex core supports pets' spines as they toss and turn throughout the night. For older pups, it's a great way to soothe the discomfort that comes with sore joints and dysplasia.

Cute Splurge: Shabby Dog's Tongue-in-Cheek Collection

Cute Splurge: Shabby Dog's Tongue-in-Cheek Collection

Fashionistas and petite pooches go together like PB&J. So it was about time someone launched a pup-focused line with style in mind! The Shabby Dog offers bows, cozy beds, a "hands-free leash" and more accessories that cater to fashion-conscious pet owners and their pups. The leather leash is a three-part system (pieces are sold separately) that connects owners to dogs with ease: Instead of a handle, the adjustable lead clasps to a matching collar and a suede-lined cuff, so hands are free for fun stuff (like shopping bags!). The whole caboodle is pricey (around $164-$184), but definitely makes a stylish statement. Plus, the cuff can be worn alone as a chic bracelet.

REVIEW: Cat Teepee Gives Indoor Kitties a Taste of the Wild Outdoors

REVIEW: Cat Teepee Gives Indoor Kitties a Taste of the Wild Outdoors

Consider it the kitty version of camping out. The Cat Teepee, the newest in the Kittywalk Systems line of outdoor pet enclosures, gives indoor cats the chance to feel the sun on their face and the wind in their fur — without the risk of them escaping the yard.

Made from weather-resistant canvas and covered in sturdy nylon netting, the Teepee stands 6 ft. tall and 4 ft. in diameter. Though my cats were immediately intrigued by the structure — they were inspecting the mesh-covered ground level even before the easy-to-build enclosure was fully constructed — it took a sprinkling of catnip to get them to climb up to the various levels the first time. But once there, they were sprawling on the canvas shelves to snooze. (Figuring out how to get down wasn’t any problem at all.)

Get the Look: Ciara's Plush 'Animals Matter' Pet Bed

What star can leave a pet boutique empty-handed? Not Ciara! The R&B diva was spotted leaving West Hollywood's D.O.G. Pet Boutique last week, her hands full with a plush dog bed and other goodies.

A sales clerk helped the singer pick out a brown Animals Matter Katie Puff Bed (above, $160) for her dogs. Made with a down-like fiberfill, upholstered in chenille and available in various sizes, the pillowy seat was instantly claimed by at least one of her pups. "Tyson is rolling in his new bed in the car:) I took him with me to work today!:)" the star Tweeted on Thursday. And, the new Crystal Bone Croc Collars she scooped up — made with Czech crystals — look like a million bucks, but at $27 each, they don't cost nearly as much!
