REVIEW: Spotless Paw Glove Cleans Pee-Pee Paw in a Snap

The walks I take with my dog are the highlight of my days. The wet and dirty paws he comes back inside with? Not so much.

Gizzy, my 8-month-old Shih Tzu has semi-long hair and no fear of dirt, mud and rain puddles. And while he’s finally doing the big boy, one-leg lift to pee, he hasn’t mastered moving his other paw out of the way, leaving him with a serious case of pee-pee paw. BrightSpot Solutions, a Colorado-based company, did just what their name suggests and came up with a solution for this very problem. They created Spotless Paw ($19.95), a six-fingered hypoallergenic microfiber glove to remove dirt, liquid and allergens from dog paws.

At first, I was slightly skeptical about the Spotless Paw. A six-fingered glove for paw scrubbing? Isn’t a towel good enough? Well, the funny six-fingered design is actually slightly genius. The glove can be used on either your right or left hand, and when one side of the glove gets gross, you can flip it around and use the other side — which means you can get a lot of uses out of this thing before throwing it in the washing machine.

The Spotless Paw microfiber definitely out-absorbs a towel. You know those hair-drying turbans in spas? It’s a lot like that. With the material in glove form you’re really able to get in there and clean stinky, sticky paws. Following an after-rain walk, I used the glove to just squeeze water out of Gizzy’s paw hair and was surprised at how much wet stuff the glove soaked up. (BrightSpot says the glove absorbs six times its weight in dirt, oil and liquid.)

While some dog owners, particularly those with short-haired dogs, may not find Spotless Paw all that necessary, it’s a great tool if your pup is prone to pee-pee paws and trekking through mud, or just for soaking up water on rainy and snowy days.
