Bark Off: How Do You Show Your Animal Shelter Pride?

I have magnets on my car that say "I rescued my best friend", I Volunteer at my local Shelter, I donate old items, and I use re-usable grocery bags from animal shelters, and I purchase things where the proceeds go to Rescues and Shelters, such as PetSmart.

Here in Southern California I have two rescued Chihuahuas and when we walk every day and people stop to pet them, I tell everyone they are rescued and from where they were rescued. I tell them how to find the particular kind of dog they're looking for and I also tout Petfinder. I was also with greyhound rescue for 12 years and at that time we were doing adoption events almost every weekend at Petsmart, Petco, home and garden shows, we were invited to car shows, book signings, Christmas tree lightings and you name it! We were/are Needle Nose Crew and they are still going strong. I miss my Alli terribly but because at this age and stage there is no way I could pick up a 60+ lb. dog and get it off to the Vet in an emergency, I now have dinky dogs to talk about to every ear that will hear.

I volunteered for 6 months a the SPCA where I got my pointer, and actually showed the dogs and matched them up with the right applicants. In addition to volunterring Isubmited a "Happy Tails" story about the adoption experience and it was published in both the local paper, the SPCA newsletter and posted on the internet. Finally both my husband and I wear our German Shorthaired Pointer t-shirts proudly!!!
