This Week's Hot Stuff
Treats to Try: 20% Off Orders (and a Recipe!) From Woof Gang Bakery
We all know southern belles are charming and gracious. And southern dogs? Well, they are too! So it makes sense that the proper pups of Asheville, N.C., are flocking to the new Woof Gang Bakery, where they can nosh daintily on sweet treats and mingle with other pretty pooches.
Opened in July, the latest franchise in the Woof Gang family features a crystal chandelier and pink décor. Staffers stock the shelves with all sorts of fun pet products, plus all-natural dog foods; wheat-, soy- and corn-free treats baked in-house; and custom-made snacks for special occasions (doggie weddings, anyone?).

Treats to Try: 15% Off Snacks from S.A.D. Dog Sushi
S.A.D. Dog Sushi may not have a storefront, but the Texas-based company has a mission: to help dogs stay on top of their health. Standing for "Species Appropriate Diet," the business doesn't dish out spicy tuna wrapped in rice, but instead offers raw meat snacks said to boost canine immune systems, add shine to coats and clean teeth.
Founded in early 2009 by raw dog food advocate Alissa Zalneraitis and sushi chef Rich Reel, the company helped cure its first puppy client of a skin allergy. Since then, it's taken off, delivering natural, grain- and preservative-free "rolls" made from raw turkey neck, venison, green tripe, beef liver and even quail.
Rachael Ray Approved: 'Two Paws Up' Breakfast Scramble Recipe
We all know what Rachael Ray does best, but do you know the celebrity chef's other passion? Dogs! Not only does the animal-lover have a beloved pooch of her own named Isaboo, but her dog food company Nutrish also donates 100 percent of profits to pet rescue. So, we trust that anything coming from her hands to our dog's mouths has got to be good.
Each month, Ray features a scrumptious new pet recipe in the pages of her magazine Every Day with Rachael Ray, and starting today we'll offer a sneak peek before the issue hits newsstands next week.
This month's doggie delight is a "Two Paws Up" Breakfast Scramble (above) -- our mouths are watering and it's not even meant for us! The canine concoction is packed with nutritious veggies (tomato! bell peppers! spinach!) and eggs to help keep your pup's coat nice and shiny.
Treat your dog to something special this weekend and toss some scrumptious scramble in his bowl! Click through to see the full recipe.
Treats to Try: 10% Off Orders from Canine Caviar
Stepping into New York's Canine Caviar store, you know you're in for a treat. The spot is as luxe as its surroundings — Manhattan's tony Time Warner Center shopping mall near Central Park — and the staff cares for its four-legged customers like old friends. (They even had a bitty 3-week-old cat hanging around when we stopped by!)
Situated on the sunny first floor, above Whole Foods and in front of Williams-Sonoma, the space is the company's first-ever storefront. And while it probably stands out as the sole pet store in the building, it's also known for its high-quality food — and mouth-watering treats.
Flabby Labby's Handmade Treats: Good Enough (For You!) to Eat
When we were presented with a bag of peanut butter banana Love Bites from The Flabby Labby Dog Company, we had just the canine in mind: A small, but sturdy maltipoo with a sweet spot for peanut butter snacks. But when he suddenly came down with a stomach bug (the poor thing couldn't keep anything down) we took matters into our own hands – human hands!
Seeing as all Flabby Labby cookies ($9 for 6 oz.) are handmade, organic and preservative free, it wasn't very difficult to convince our 6-ft. 4-inch., 195-lb. tester to take a nibble. After tentatively sniffing the heart-shaped treat, our two-legged male quickly chewed and swallowed not one, but two Love Bites. His review? "More of a cracker or a biscuit than a cookie." He said he could taste the banana flavor, but did not "feel a peanut butter connection."
Treats to Try: Meet and Eat at Iowa's Woofables Bakery
It's hard to imagine that picturesque Coralville, Iowa, was once without dog parks and bakeries. But Woofables, founded in 2004, changed all that, when it not only became the town's first pet patisserie, but a key fund-raiser for the area's first dog park, too.
Now, Woofables makes a great pre-park meeting spot, where dogs and owners can congregate, grab a few snacks for the road and sample treats flavored with cinnamon, chicken soup and even pizza seasonings. Owners Lara Moore and Kathleen Potts bake everything on-site, using fresh human-grade ingredients and trusting the tastes of their dogs, boxer Lola and Doberman Ruby.
Treats to Try: Easy Oatmeal Squares from the Bluegrass Barkery
When Clayton Harvey first adopted his dog Harley, the outlook was grim. The pooch, a puppy mill rescue, had myriad food allergies and stomach problems that made him antisocial and lethargic. But Harley's maladies turned into a blessing of sorts: They inspired Harvey and his mother to launch the Bluegrass Barkeries of Lexington, Ky.
With two locations — a restored home in the Chevy Chase neighborhood, and a storefront on the south side — the Barkeries are both hot meeting spots for local dog owners. The Chevy Chase shop, in particular, has a wrap-around porch and fenced-in backyard, where customers and their pups congregate for events like Easter egg hunts, Mardi 'Paw' parties, ice cream socials and even meet and greets with the man himself, Santa Claus.
